Installed on a printing press, EyeC ProofRunner Web monitors 100% of the print run.

The EyeC ProofRunner Web is used for inline, 100 % print inspection on the press or finishing line, continuously monitoring the full web width and flagging deviations the moment they occur for printers and converters. By visualising defects in real time and tying them to precise roll positions, the system helps operators correct issues early, reduce waste and rework, protect brand integrity and meet strict regulatory requirements.

The AI option helps production by classifying defects intelligently, distinguishing meaningful print faults from benign artefacts such as dust, splice tape edges or substrate grain. By cutting nuisance alarms without relaxing vigilance – and by documenting every event for full traceability – the AI workflow lets operators focus on actionable issues, improving line efficiency and decision-making at speed all packaging lines.

The ProofRunner AI option is pre-trained, so it can be put to productive use right away. With each additional print job, the AI learns, so that the results and thus the efficiency of the system continuously improve.

In a single pass, the system verifies artwork (text and graphics), 1D/2D codes and variable data together in one unified run, avoiding separate checks that slow the line. This integrated approach streamlines set-up, prevents data or content mismatches and maintains consistent defect detectability across lanes and repeats – even during acceleration, deceleration and roll changes common in high-throughput production.

Operators can get inspections running quickly because fast, guided job set-up with intuitive tooling, templates and teach-in brings the system online in seconds, even for complex multi-lane repeats. Automatic synchronisation with web geometry and register minimises manual adjustments, enabling rapid changeovers and sustained high press speeds with stable, repeatable detection performance on British and European converting lines.

Comprehensive reporting is available, with automatically generated records that capture images, defect coordinates, classifications, statistics and – where applicable – code grades and Braille metrics for full traceability. Downstream integration is supported via press–rewinder connectivity and roll mapping for targeted rework, while export options enable seamless hand-off to QA systems, MES/ERP and customer documentation used.
